This might be the key to helping you make 2017 your year. Come real close to your screen because we can’t let this get out. No, seriously, come closer…closer. Ok, you ready?
You don’t have to wait until January to start working on your 2017 resolutions. You can start…right…now.
I know your mind was just blown so take a minute to put it back together before you keep reading. Seriously, why wait until the new year to start? Is there a law in place that says you must wait? I haven’t seen one. I get that there is something motivating about starting fresh on a new year but there should be something even more exciting about being a little ahead by the time 1/1/17 gets here. Here are three quick and easy ways you can start on your 2017 fitness resolutions today.
New Year’s Resolution 1. Sign up for a gym membership.
As weird as this might sound, despite many people making fitness resolutions, many gyms are closed on New Year’s Day. Now you have two choices. You can put that off until January 2nd which could lead to you putting it off even longer or you can sign up in advance so you can become familiar with the gym and start training now. This should be an easy choice. Sign up as soon as you can so you’re financially committed and more likely to get that return on investment by using it and working your training into your schedule.
New Year’s Resolution 2. Make your next shopping list.
You’re very likely to go grocery shopping again between now and the end of the year. Commit to your new healthy lifestyle by making a grocery list of foods that are more sensible to your goals. Break down that list into groups like proteins, produce, fats, and healthy carbs. Also, make sure you eat before you go to the store. If you shop hungry, then you’re more likely to make bad choices that are convenient and don’t serve your goals.
New Year’s Resolution 3. Write out your goals.
It’s one thing to simply say that you want to lose weight in 2017. It’s more of a commitment when you define that into a measurable goal. How much weight do you want to lose? Take a minute to step on a scale. Seriously, right now, go step on a scale. What does that scale say? Now what do you want it to say? Take the current number, subtract the number you want, there’s your goal. Pretty simple, right? The next step is to write out that goal and every measurable goal you can come up with that you would like to achieve in 2017. It can be a pants size, a weight to lift, a distance to run. Here’s another secret for you about resolutions. You get to make them. You’re in control. Embrace that and write out a list that you feel would make you happy.
Whatever your resolutions or goals are for 2017, make sure you start now and dedicate yourself to making next year your best year ever.
